Who We Are

Creating a positive impact on young lives

Hot Hand Hoops Assistance Program is a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring at-risk youth. With over 15 years experience, our mission is to continue to  provide guidance, support, and valuable life skills to help them overcome challenges, thrive academically, and pursue a brighter future.

Jabbar Thomas, once a promising semi-pro basketball player, faced a life-altering event that forever changed his athletic career. A car accident left him with severe injuries, nearly leading to the amputation of his left leg below the knee. Consequently, Jabbar was left with a mere 3-degree range of motion in his left foot.

The accident not only shattered Jabbar's dreams but also tested his faith and determination. Initially devastated by the news, he refused to succumb to self-pity and instead embarked on an arduous journey towards recovery. Physical therapy became an integral part of his daily routine as he tirelessly worked to regain strength and mobility.

Jabbar's unwavering dedication paid off as he gradually improved his range of motion. Although far from returning to his former glory, he found solace in knowing that progress was being made. This experience taught him the value of perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity.

Despite being unable to pursue a professional basketball career anymore, Jabbar did not let this setback define him. He redirected his passion for sports into coaching young athletes and inspiring them to overcome their own challenges. Through sharing his story, Jabbar became a source of motivation for others facing similar obstacles.

In conclusion, Jabbar Thomas' car accident may have stripped him of his ability to play basketball at a high level; however, it also revealed his indomitable spirit and determination. His journey serves as a testament to the power of prayer, resilience, and finding new paths when life throws unexpected curveballs.
